Bangladeshi workers abroad remitted funds worth $840 million in Sep this year, $960 million less than they did last month.
A Bangladesh Bank (BB) statement on Monday, however, said the inflow had risen 11.37 percent in the last three months.
The high inflow in July and Aug could be attributed to the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday season, BB governor Atiur Rahman told.
"In the coming Eid, the remittance flow will hopefully rise again."
The governor pointed out that though the Sep remittance was lower than that of the last two months, it was higher than in the same month last year.
The first month of the current fiscal, July saw remittance worth $1.02 billion and Aug $1.8 billion.
During July-Sep, expatriates sent home $256.7 million through the four state-owned banks and $11.1 million through two specialised banks.
Through 30 private banks, $565 million worth of remittance came in and some 10 million more came in through nine foreign banks.
