Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has declared that Oct 2 would be marked every year as the 'National Productivity Day' in a bid to encourage increased outputs in all sectors.
Speaking at the inauguration of a workshop on increasing productivity at Hotel Ruposhi Bangla on Sunday noon, Hasina also declared 'Productivity Programme' as a national movement.
"It is not possible to hike productivity through individual efforts. Everyone, including the government, owners and workers along with politicians, planners, researchers, professionals, civil society members, and mass media will have to step forward," she added.
She also declared that the government would be handing over national awards every year for 'productivity' and 'quality' to the best industrial organisations and entrepreneurs to promote the movement.
